Limbe Maritime Institute Effective In 2013

MINEPIA boss visited the construction site last Friday where work continues unabated.

The construction of the Limbe Maritime and Fishery Institute is witnessing an impressive acceleration and the Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries Dr. Taiga was visibly impressed with what he saw while visiting the Institute in the Wovea outskirts of Limbe.

The Minister and stakeholders were in Limbe on Friday, November 2, on the occasion of the Seventh Session of the Steering Committee of the project. At the site of the main campus in Wovea, work was going on unabated in a construction project that costs over FCFA 9 billion and earmarked to be completed in 2013. The Minister got in-depth explanations from Gonzalo Lucas, the Project Manager, on the functioning of the Institute and progress being made in the construction of classrooms, administrative blocks, storage facilities, offices, etc.

Dr. Taiga equally visited the practical section of the school situated at the Limbe wharf. After the Minister’s visit to the Maritime and Fishery Institute, Hotel SEME was the venue where he presided at the Seventh Session of the Steering Committee of the Project. In his address, Dr. Taïga called on stakeholders to ensure that work continues non-stop to meet up with the calendar set for the end of the project.

During the session, the stakeholders took stock of the state of advancement and the level of execution of the project since the last session. When fully operational, the Limbe Maritime and Fishery Institute would greatly boost fish production, generate income and curb unemployment.
