Canon Yaounde Now A Company

This was the major resolution of the ordinary congress of the club that took place on Sunday, November 25,2012.

In order to be abreast with the new with the recommendations of Fecafoot, Canon football club of Yaounde has changed its status from an association to a limited liability company with effect from November 25, 2012. This was the major outcome of the ordinary congress of the club which took place yesterday at the Yaounde Sports complex. The company has been registered with a bailiff and shares are up for sales at the cost of FCFA 10.000 a share.

The issue of creating a company created a rift between Celine Eko and Patriarch Ateba Yene. While the patriarch claimed he had already registered the club as a company, the board chair contested that it was only the general assembly which had the right to do so and that the decision to create a company was effective as from yesterday as decided by the general assembly. The answer did not please Ateba Yene who staged a walk out, promising to spit venom.

The club also set up a committee headed by the board chairlady, Celine Eko to prepare for the funeral of a fallen hero of the club, Theophile Abega. They equally examined the activities of the club during the past season and projected ahead for the year to come. Members also made an on the spot financial donation to boost the coffers of the club. In what can be interpreted as the approval of national football governing body, the secretary General of Fecafoot was represented at the meeting. In a show of solidarity, the president of Tonnerre Kalara Club, Onambele Zibi, paid a courtesy call at the general assembly saying he was happy everything ended well with Canon. “Tonnerre was created from Canon. We are not enemies. We may be enemies for ninety minutes on the field but after that we go and drink together”, he said. though, Pierre Wome Nlend was co-opted as the official in charge of recruitment and evaluation of players, he said he was not interested in buying shares from the club.
