They are pooled in group C alongside Angola and Uganda.

Cameroon stands a chance of sailing through the group stage as they inherited an easy draw at the 8^th edition of the African military football cup to begin tomorrow in Abidjan-Cote d’Ivoire. The military Lions will be playing in Group C along side Lilliputians Angola and Uganda. Having won the last two editions of the cup in 2006 and 2008, Cameroon will be the team everyone will want to beat in order to lift the coveted trophy dubbed Camporare Cup.

The military Lions began preparing for the defence of their title for over a month now under the supervision of Bertin Ebwelle. The military Lions left for Senegal two weeks before the kick off of the event in order to acclimatise.

Initially billed for the 3^rd to the 17^th of December, the kick off of the competition was deferred to Wednesday December 5^th with the host country, Cote d’Ivoire to set the ball rolling with Nigeria. Twelve countries are taking part in the tournament namely, Cameroon, Angola, Mali, Egypt, Kenya, Zambia, Nigeria, Uganda, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Gambia and host, Cote d’Ivoire. The teams are divided into four groups and the four semi finalists will qualify for the World Military Football Cup to take place in Baku-Azerbaijan. To increase their chances of qualification, the five West African countries qualified for the tournament, held a mini tournament to prepare for the competition.

Three stadiums have been retained for the competition comprising the Felix Houphouet Boigny stadium, Champroux and Parc des Sports stadiums. Cote d’Ivoire is hosting the tournament for the second in eleven years since they last hosted in Yamoussoukro in 2001. The country aims to use the tournament to heal the wounds created by the recent civil strife in the country and cement their relations with the rest of the continent.
