Yaounde Gynaecological Hospital Construction Nears Completion

The first extraordinary session of the management committee of the hospital took place on Wednesday.

The Management Committee of the Gynecological Endoscopic Surgery and Human Reproductive Teaching Hospital abbreviated CHRACERH met in Yaounde yesterday, December 5 for its first extraordinary session to examine how far the administrator of CHRACERH has gone with the completion of construction work on the hospital and also to finalise the purchase of equipment. Under the chairmanship of the President of the Committee, Professor Séraphin Magloire Fouda, members in a convivial manner discussed the future of the hospital which will not only provide quality healthcare to women and children but will also train doctors.

During the last meeting of the committee in July 29 this year, it was required that the administrator of the hospital, Professor Kaisa, follow-up construction work of the hospital and the purchase of equipment which will usher-in the effective functioning of the hospital. The administrator of CHRACERH said to finish the construction of the hospital, they had to administratively regulate the internal market of construction which before now, was carried out by different ministries. According to Kaisa, these ministries had to transfer the contracting authority power to CHRACERH without any prejudices to continue work on the hospital. He said this took time given that they had to go through the Ministry of Public contract which is just being set-up.

The administrator of CHRACERH said all contracts have been signed between the Ministry of Public Contracts and the different enterprises to complete the construction of the hospital and the purchase of equipment. At the moment, pressure is being put on those companies charged with finishing the construction work as well as the fabrication of equipment. Equipment for CHRACERH are expected to arrive in Cameroon in two months. Thereafter, the administration will carry out a workshop to train those who will use the equipment. It is at this point that the administrators of CHRACERH will envisage when the hospital will effectively go operational. Professor Kaisa stressed that operating a hospital is not an easy task for there are many things to do before one starts receiving patients.
