The 32 Police personnel arrived in Yaounde on Thursday, December 18.

A contingent of 32 female Police staff who participated in peacekeeping operations in Darfur, Sudan from September 16, 2010 got back home yesterday, December 18 at the end of their 27-month mission. The Police ladies headed by Senior Superintendent of Police, Makondo Rosalie were part of the AU/UN Hybrid Operation in Darfur.
As they alighted from the Kenya Airways 5Y-FFD flight at the Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport, they sang “Home again. When shall I see my home. I will never forget my home.” The Deputy Director of Human Resources in the General Delegation for National Security, Commissioner of Police Mendjongo Abanda welcomed the female police contingent on behalf of the Delegate General for National Security, Martin Mbarga Nguele. He called on them to get back to work as soon as possible and use the knowledge acquired to enrich the Cameroonian Police force.
Talking on their mission in Darfur, Senior Police Superintendent, Makondo Rosalie said they worked in different teams on issues such as human rights, proximity police, protection of the family and child, investigation and peacekeeping operations. The greater part of their work consisted in visiting camps hosting people displaced by the endemic Darfur war to encourage and give them hope. She said the war victims face all sorts of threats and persecution from the rebels and Arab nomads. Makondo Rosalie said they have all returned home and promised that the knowledge acquired in matters of international police will be put at the disposal of the Cameroonian Police force.
