Chief Obi-Okpun Wanobi Osang died on Friday 28 December, 2012 in his Limbe hotel room.

The General Manager of PAMOL Plc, one of the largest agro-industrial outfits in Cameroon with head office in Lobe, Ekondo Titi Sub-division of the South West region is dead. Chief Christopher Obi-Okpun Wanobi Osang died in the early hours of Friday 28 December in his hotel room in Limbe under unclear circumstances. The cause of his death is not yet known as post-mortem autopsy results are still awaited.

The PAMOL GM was in Limbe to take part in the Board meeting of the company that was scheduled for Friday 28 December 2012. His death, according to reports from Lobe, has left many especially workers of the company in shock and consternation as they received the sad news with disbelief. His death comes at the heels of another great loss of yet another General Manager of another agro-industrial giant, the CDC, Henry Njalla Quan, who passed on in Limbe a forthnight ago and was buried in Bimbia on Saturday, December 29, 2012.

Mr. Christopher Obi-Okpun Wanobi Osang was appointed at the helm of PAMOL in June 2005 and since then he brought in some innovations in the company like the extension of the plantations to Ekondo Nene. Before his untimely death last Friday, he had initiated a project to extend PAMOL to the Bakassi area. He is also credited for initiating the construction of a modern head office of the company that is nearing completion and a modern soap factory worth about FCFA 500 million.

The deceased PAMOL GM, who hails from Daudi village (Akwaya) where he was a 3rd class chief, was also an alternate member of the Central Committee of the ruling CPDM party and resource person for Akwaya, in Manyu division of the South West region. He leaves behind his wife and children, PAMOL staff, friends and well-wishers to mourn him. By press time, the funeral programme was yet to be made public.
