Christians Enjoined To Love One Another

Rev. Henri Fomuso made the call during New Year Church service in Yaounde on Tuesday.

Christians in Cameroon joined the rest of the world to celebrate New Year Day 2013. The day was marked by prayers and worship in all Christian churches in the country.

At the PC Bastos Congregation in Yaounde Christians thronged the church premises to give thanks to God for bringing them to another year. As early as 9:00 a.m., Christians in the different choral groups gathered in their usual quiet corners to rehearse ahead of the church service. The solemn church service began at 9:30 a.m. with a procession of choral groups, church elders and the clergy. Rev. Neba Muangu in the opening prayer prayed that God should make Christians live through the uncertainties of the New Year and that the joy of the New Year will bring them closer to Jesus Christ.

In his sermon, the Parish Pastor, Rev. Henri Fomuso, preached on the message titled “Beginning Again”. Drawing from the book of Mathew 7:7-14 in the Holy Bible, he said on earth everything has a beginning and an end. The only exception, he explained, is human life because God intended life to be everlasting but the disobedience of Adam and Eve brought sin, suffering, illness and death.

Thus, human life on earth begins at birth and ends at death. He further said another thing which God intended to be everlasting is marriage but unfortunately again because of human weaknesses, most marriages don’t continue till the end. He called on Christians to create relationships with one another and consequently with God. “If you are not good with the human being you see you cannot be good to the God you don’t see,” he said.
