CDU National Chairman, Adamu Ndam Njoya granted a press conference on January 16.

The National President of the Cameroon Democratic Union (CDU), Dr.Adamu Ndam Njoya says for permanent peace to ruin in the Division there must be respect of the republican laws, even by those who are expected to interpret laws. “Permanent peace will return to Foumban if there is respect for Republican laws”, Adamu Ndam Njoya stressed.

The CDU National chairman, who also doubles as Mayor of the Foumban council, was speaking in Foumban on 16th January in a press conference on the sad incident that occurred on the 1st January, in Foumban, between CDU supporters and security guards of the Sultanate, resulting to six vehicles destroyed and many persons wounded and hospitalized.

According to Adamu Ndam Njoya, the incident happened because those put in place to interpret institutional laws did not do their work well, or they favoured one party. He said there were good reasons to appeal to the authorities charged with interpreting and applying institutional or Republican laws with all fairness and objectivity, so that citizens’ rights and their cultural heritage can also be respected.

Asked about the seizure of his passport by judicial authorities, CDU National Chairman described it as false. About his intention to seize the throne of Foumban from Sultan Ibrahim Mbombo Njoya, Ndam Njoya, said the sultan was his uncle, adding that at the moment, he had no legitimate claim to the sultanate of Foumban. He said some political profiteers are saying that to detract CDU supporters into CPDM camp. He said he needed but understanding from those inciting disorder to seek for dialogue so that he can contribute in the development of the sultanate.
