The Mayor of Dordrecht Council had discussions with some cabinet ministers on January 18.

The Mayor of Dordrecht Council in the Netherlands, Brok A.A on Friday, January 18, 2013 led a delegation that had discussions with Cameroon’s Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation, Rene Emmanuel Sadi and the Minister Delegate at the Ministry of External Relations in charge of Relations with the Commonwealth, Joseph Dion Ngute on ways of fostering decentralized cooperation between Cameroon and the Netherlands. It was an occasion for the Cameroonian officials to learn from the experience of the Netherlands that is endowed with a rich culture of decentralization through its 12 Provinces and 480 councils.

The Dordrecht Council has been cooperating with the City of Bamenda, the North West Regional capital in Cameroon for over 17 years. The Council Mayor Brok A.A disclosed to journalists after discussions with the two cabinet ministers that the council has built relations with Bamenda through support to foundations of deaf as well as disabled children. He said they intend to support projects from churches in Bamenda in the future. He was accompanied by some entrepreneurs, he disclosed would build new contacts in the area of waste management.

Cameroon’s Territorial Administration and Decentralisation boss, Rene Emmanuel Sadi lauded excellent relations between the two countries whose diplomatic missions are all headed by ambassadors. He said they discussed ways of fostering decentralized cooperation, adding that despite the different contexts, Cameroon has a lot to learn from the Netherlands.

The Mayor of Dordrecht Council and his delegation was accompanied all over by the Government Delegate to the Bamenda City, Vincent Nji Ndumu.
