CEFAM To Invest FCFA 256.8 Million In 2013

The Institution will receive a new intake this year and intensify its support for the decentralization process.

The sum of FCFA 1.027.545.710, balanced in income and expenditure, is the budget for the activities of the Buea-based Local Government Training Centre (CEFAM) in 2013. Of the lot, FCFA 256.886.427 will go for investment and the rest will be used to run the institution for these 12 months.

Such was one of the resolutions taken under the chairmanship of Pierre Essomba, who sat in for the Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization during the 70th Board of Directors meeting of CEFAM held in Buea last 28 December. The Board equally examined past activities and management of the training institution and praised Mathieu Hagbe, Director of CEFAM, for efficiency and quality documents presented.

A few weeks to the Board meeting, some 1.000 candidates sat the competitive entrance into CEFAM from all the 10 Regions of Cameroon. As results are being awaited, the number to be admitted shall be determined by the Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization.
The Local Government Training Centre for staff from all Councils of Cameroon was created before independence and subsequently reorganized by a Presidential decree of 1977. The Centre has so far fulfilled its mission and even established itself at the centre of the decentralization drive engaged by the State recently by way of training and retraining personnel.
