The annual conference of MINFOF took place in Yaounde on January 23.
Officials of the internal and external services of the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife (MINFOF) yesterday January 23 got abreast with programmes contained in the roadmap of the ministry in 2013 and examined ways of efficiently implementing them for a satisfactory take off in the results-based programme budget. This was during its annual conference that held at the Mont Febe Hotel chaired by MINFOF boss, Ngole Philip Ngwese.
Coming on the heels of the effective take off of the results-driven programme budget on January 1, 2013, the Minister said efforts must be redoubled to live up to standards with the programmes the ministry has drawn up and presented at the National Assembly. “We lay emphasis on three main aspects of our programme. There is one to renew our forest resources and increase our potential, one on ensuring that we process as much as possible our forestry resources before exportation and we also want to see into it that the wildlife sector contributes adequately to revamping our economy. We will never have enough financial and material resources but I believe that we can do with what we have and I also believe that we have a duty to attain the best possible results with the least resources that can be made available,” Minister Ngole Philip Ngwese said.
Besides being drilled on the mechanisms of attaining the objectives of the programmes, yesterday’s annual conference equally served as an opportunity for the officials to appraise how the ministry fared in 2012 so as to right identified wrongs this year. An auto evaluation of the three programmes the ministry undertook in 2012, the Minister said, shows that an 89.7 per cent success rate was recorded as at December 31, 2012. The performance, the Minister noted, appears encouraging but pleaded with collaborators not to rest on their laurels for “we can do better.” He however condemned some hard to die bad habits that continue to undermine efficiency. While promising hard times to perpetrators, Minister Ngole Philip Ngwese however prayed for change so that in synergy all and sundry can work to attain set objectives for the country’s emergence. The Minister and the Secretary of State, Koulsoumi Alhadji épse Boukar, will receive New Year wishes at ENAM this Thursday January 24.
