Denis Oumarou’s Remains Coffined

His body was removed from the Yaounde General Hospital on Friday January 25.

Erstwhile Secretary of State for Post and Telecommunications, Denis Oumarou, who passed away on January 10, 2013 at the Yaounde General Hospital after a brief illness was on Friday January 25, coffined. The corpse removal was at the morgue of the Yaounde General Hospital.

The Head of State, Paul Biya was represented by the Minister of Finance, Alamine Ousmane Mey. Amongst State mourners was the Secretary General of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM), Jean Nkuete. Many Cabinet Ministers were equally at the mortuary to comfort the family. Mrs Oumarou also received condolences from the Circle of Friends of Cameroon (CERAC), headed by its General Coordinator, Dr. Mrs Linda Yang.

Born in 1956 in Houmbal (Lam-Figuil), in Mayo Louti Division of the North Region, late Denis Oumarou’s administrative career began in 1984 when he was Service Head for Coordination in the then Ministry of Territorial Administration. He was later moved to Vina Division in Adamawa Region as the First Assistant Senior Divisional Officer in 1984. Denis Oumarou later occupied the post of Director of General Affairs in the then Ministry of Information and Culture in 1991. He successively occupied the position of Secretary of State in the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, Youths and Sports and that of Economy and Finance. Before passing on, Denis Oumarou was member of the Central Committee of CPDM since the party’s ordinary congress of December 1996.

Denis Oumarou was buried in his native Figuil, North Region on January 26, 2013.
