Nyong et Kelle: Over 27,555 Voters Already Registered

CPDM revises mobilization strategies to reach the target of 55,675 registered voters.

By January 22, 2013, the 10 Council areas of Nyong et Kelle Division in the Centre Region had already registered 27,555 voters scoring 48 per cent out of the target of 55,675 registered voters in the ongoing biometric recompilation of voters’ register launched on October 3, 2012.

President Paul Biya’s ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) that controls all the three parliamentary seats in the Division and some of the municipal councils, on January 26, 2013 at the Eseka Community Hall devised new strategies of enabling many of its supporters register. The delegation of the CPDM Centre Regional Support and Follow-up Committee to boost the registration operation, led by Energy and Water Resources Minister, Basile Atangana Kouna came to evaluate and with the local party officials devise new strategies of boosting the operation. After exchanges between the CPDM Regional delegation members, Nyong et Kelle Divisional team, led by Social Affairs Minister, Catherine Bakang Mbock, the delegation leader recommended a myriad of ways of ensuring that Elections Cameroon registers the expected 55,675 voters. She presented detailed registration statistics.

Minister Atangana Kouna called on all CPDM local officials to establish the lists of party supporters for proper follow-up to ensure that they register and increase the party’s winning chances in future elections. He also read out the instructions of the Secretary General of the CPDM Central Committee, Jean Nkuete who called for total commitment by party officials, identification of sensitive zones that need proper attention and the need by all local party leaders to produce results. In all, the CPDM mobilization teams must work together with administrative, traditional authorities as well as all other actors, adopt door-to-door method and be disciplined. The meeting ended with WCPDM supporters handing gifts to the Regional delegation members. Some local party supporters also received gifts.
