The head-on collision caused one death while heavy rains were accompanied by floods in some neighbourhoods.

On Friday January 25, a head-on collision on the Wouri Bridge caused the life of a young man. The motorbike rider who died on the spot was transporting a student who sustained severe injuries. This was after colliding with a private Toyota vehicle. The other driver, according to witnesses, equally had wounds, though he was shielded by his car. The victims were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical care and the corpse at the Laquintinie Hospital Mortuary.

Meanwhile, the early hours of Saturday January 26 in Douala witnessed a heavy downpour. Though unexpected in the heart of the dry season, the rains left marks on some places. For instance in Bonapriso, the upper half of a huge mango tree split and fell on the tar, completely blocking one lane of the main road. It equally dragged down electric cables, which pressure broke an electrical pole. At press time, technicians were dispatched to the scene, while traffic on that road was perturbed throughout the day. Also, some parts of Bonapriso and Ngangue recorded floods. Though, the water levels returned to normal, after the rains.
