Youths Introduced To Architecture

Students from colleges in Yaounde visited the Special School of Architecture on Wednesday.

Students from several colleges in the city of Yaounde have been introduced to opportunities for training and employment in the domain of architecture. This was during a guided visit to the Special Advanced School of Architecture of Cameroon (ESSACA) in the Bastos neighbourhood. It was organised as part of activities to mark the 47th National Youth Week.

The guided orientation tour started with a film projection on architecture in various countries such as Japan. According to the Secretary General of ESSACA, Victorine Mbette, the documentaries were aimed at showing the students how architecture draws from creative imagination.

The visiting students also appraised the architectural designs of ESSACA students. Their enthusiasm was also provoked by the exhibition of the works of Brasilian architect, late Oscar Niemeyer who contributed to the construction of Brasilia, the Brasilian capital city.

“I am satisfied with the visit because it will help me reshape my plans for studies after college,” said Caroline Enyegue Etoa, a final year student at the Collège de la Retraite in Yaounde.

ESSACA will also organise a health march for youths tomorrow, Saturday February 9, 2013 on some major streets of Yaounde.
