SW CPDM Support Committee Seeks Voter Registration Extension

The extension, they believe, would improve the 37 per cent realization so far on the field.

The South West Regional CPDM Supervisory and Support Committee to boost the biometric recompilation of voters registers, has expressed hopes for the extension of the voter registration exercise which is scheduled to end on February 28,  2013. Their hopes were made known to the press Saturday February 23 in Buea by the Chairperson of the Regional Supervisory and Support committee, Peter Mafany Musonge following an evaluation meeting that held in camera at the Party Secretariat.

“We have done fairly well. It has not been an easy exercise. The region stands at 36-37% of the targeted potential voters of the region,” Musonge told reporters.  He added that there is a lot of work going on in the field and hopes that an extension would be given. “If we have a little extension, we do hope that will improve the target achieved so far,” Peter Mafany Musonge opined. He said accessibility to most parts of the region has been one of the major setbacks. The former Prime Minister urged those still dragging feet to get on board so that they can also take part in choosing their representatives. Speaking earlier, the host Fako III Section President and Mayor of Buea, Charles Mbella Moki expressed gratitude for hosting the meeting which he said is intended to draw militants closer. He revealed that about 400 potential voters are registered daily at the makeshift registration boot installed by ELECAM at the University of Buea junction. It worth noting that out of the 606,469 target allocated to the South West Regional Delegation of ELECAM, the Election management body has so far registered 220,016 potential voters as per the February 15, 2013 statistics.
