Some 1,814 Voters Ready

Some 1,814 Voters Ready The Centre Regional Delegation of Elections Cameroon is busy with material preparation. Some 1,814 voters in the Centre Region are bracing up to elect the region’s seven elected Senators in 34 polling stations in the April 14, 2013 election of Senators in Cameroon.  The Head of Elections Cameroon, ELECAM Delegation for the Centre Region, Ntsama Amougou Brigitte Madeleine disclosed the information to Cameroon Tribune in Yaounde, yesterday, March 11, 2013 and said the electoral college for the Centre Region was drawn from 70 local councils spread over the  10 Divisions of the region.

By the time Cameroon Tribune got to her office, Ntsama Amougou was preparing to leave for the Upper Sanaga Division in continuation of her inspection tour to ascertain the level of material preparation for the April 14 election of Senators. She had already finished  touring  Mfoundi, Nyong et So’o  and Mefou et Afamba Divisions. On the field, ELECAM Centre Regional Delegate and her team are working to ensure that ballot boxes, polling booths and shortlisted polling stations are in good state. Ntsama Amougou also said they have taken pre-emptive measures by ensuring that the material is in sufficient quantity to avoid last-minute unpleasant surprises.

When the election of Senators was announced, the ELECAM Delegation in conformity with the law, consulted with local councils and published the provisional lists of voters in ELECAM Divisional and Council branches for consultation and necessary corrections. The corrected lists have been forwarded to the Directorate General of Elections which following the Electoral Code, has to publish the final list of electors by March 14, 2013. When the final list will be out, Ntsama Amougou disclosed, she will coordinate its publication. Voters cards  also have to be printed after the final list is published. ELECAM branches will ensure their distribution as well as other material from the Directorate General of Elections.  The Centre Regional Delegate of ELECAM said the staff need no specific training for the election of Senators, considering that they had already coordinated and supervised elections. They are ready for all the stages of the April 14 election.
