They stole a motorbike in one of their recent operations.

An armed bandit, named Pere des Peres, is reported to be on the run after stabbing to death his friend in crime with a dagger and gravely wounding another. The fatal incident took place recently at Saint Tropez in the PK10 neighbourhood in the Douala V Council area.

Police say Pere des Peres, who passes around for a member of the local vigilantes group charged with ensuring security of the inhabitants at night, participated in a robbery operation with Lionel Ngomsi (24) and Joseph Keuwa (20). During the armed operation that took place the previous night, the three bandits looted a motorbike. Ngomsi, a former detainee of the Douala New Bell Prison and Keuwa succeeded to sell the motorbike.

The violent drama ensued when Pere des Peres came asking for his own part of the booty and none was given him. Instead his friends in crime decided to share the booty among them, accusing him of being a member of the vigilante group that serves as an impediment to their criminal activities. So Pere des Peres waited for them at mid night at the same place where they use to ambush innocent citizens.

When Ngomsi and Keuwa showed up that night he immediately stabbed the former on the neck with his dagger, severally wounding Keuwa on the shoulders as he attempted to escape the rage. Lionel Ngomsi’s corpse was taken to the Laquintinie Hospital Mortuary in Douala while Keuwa was rushed the Emergency Ward of the Hospital. After committing the unlawful act, Pere des Peres slipped into hiding yet unknown to security forces.  Elements of the Anti-gang Unit of the Judicial Police in Bonanjo are currently grilling Keuwa on the subject.
