Cameroon’s Emergence Potentials Presented

 This was during a session at the India-Africa Business Forum in New Delhi.

The Cameroonian delegation to the India-Africa Business Forum known as “India-Africa Conclave” led by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon Yang used the occasion to present to Indian and other investors the country’s programme, strategies and potential to attain the status of an emerging country in 2035.

 

Reporters from the Prime Minister’s Office disclosed that on March 18, the second day of the forum, there was  a  special session on Cameroon code-named, “Guest country-Cameroon.”  During the over one-hour session, some cabinet ministers supported by the Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank, Cameroon, Mandeng Batoum Mathieu, presented the country’s potentials, attractive enough to enhance the vision of becoming an emerging economy by 2035. The Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi specified the different investment opportunities in agriculture, agro-industrial, energy, mines, tourism and infrastructure sectors.

Indian investors, reportedly massively attended the session led by the Indian Consul to Cameroon, Ravi Kumar. Mr Mandeng, reports stated, expressed his bank’s readiness to work with Indian investors who would favourably respond to government’s invitation.

Another highlight of the visit of the Cameroonian delegation to India was a Memorandum Understanding signed between Cameroon’s Minister of Social Affairs, Catherine Bakang Mbock and an Indian Non-governmental organization, Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), represented by Shri D.R.Mehta. It concerns the establishment of a plant to produce equipment destined to improve the conditions of disabled people.
