The National Chairman of the SDF was in the West Region for campaigns on April 10.

 The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Front (SDF), Ni John Fru Ndi on April 10, 2013 carried out a one-day senatorial campaign trip to the West Region. He called on CPDM Councillors who constitute a majority of the Electoral College for the 14^th April senatorial election in the West Region to go for the offensive for value and vote for the SDF list.

The SDF chairman, who carefully abandoned the earlier adopted door-to-door campaign strategy of meeting the political actors involved in the senatorial race, this time chose public political rallies, where he addressed grassroots militants, he described as his “campaign managers”. According to Fru Ndi, meeting the members of the Electoral College requires money, which the SDF party did not have, and the best way to meet the Councillors means passing through their relatives or friends. He admitted that the SDF victory in the West Region was at the CPDM Councillors’ mercy, and called on SDF supporters he addressed in separate rallies in Foumban, the stronghold of the CDU party where he held talks with Sultan Mbombo Njoya. Though nothing filtered out to the press from their discussion, it is evident that Ni John Fru Ndi wanted Sultan Mbombo Njoya to add his voice for CPDM Councillors to vote for the SDF party. From Foumban, Fru Ndi’s caravan moved to Baham, Bandjoun, Bafoussam and Mbouda. He said even if there were some differences of opinion between the major players, SDF for the moment had more to offer than her main challenger CDU.

SDF chairman who was accompanied by some substantive and alternate candidates for the April 14 election, said after over 23 years of frosty political relation with the CPDM, now time has come for all Cameroonians to correctly understand that the answer to the country’s problem is “what vision for the future and what their understanding of democracy is”.  He said he knew there are some grumbling supporters in the ranks of the CPDM who have voiced their unhappiness, but   believes that time has come to put heads together to develop our country’s great potentials, and this can only come by support from each other, adding that the CPDM must vote for the SDF to make this needed value soar.
