AU Observer Mission Commends Conduct Of Senate Elections

The Mission leader gave their impressions to Prime Minister Philemon Yang on Monday.

The head of the African Union Observer’s Mission for the April 14, 2013 election of Senators in Cameroon, has commended the conduct of the election. Mr Edem Kodjo, Chairperson of the Observer’s Mission and former Prime Minister of Togo led a delegation to the Star Building, yesterday, April 15 for discussions with Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon Yang. The conduct of the election of Senators was the main point on the agenda.

“Things were very well organized,” Edem Kodjo told reporters after the audience with the Prime Minister. “If you notice that something is good, you have to say it”, he further said.  The leader of the African Union team specified that they observed the opening and closing of polling operations in the polling stations in Bastos, Yaounde.

The African Union Observer’s Mission, the leader said, will today, April 16, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in Mont Febe Hotel in Yaounde, grant a press conference during which a report on the conduct of the election will be given.  He said recommendations on ways of improving the electoral process in the country could also be made. The African Union Observer’s Mission team will submit their report to the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma.
