No human loss was recorded, though one car was wrecked.

Traffic was perturbed for about three hours at the main entrance to the Cite des Palmiers District Hospital last Friday May 3. Eye witness accounts hold that a brewery company trailer transporting crates of beer caused an accident between two vehicles. CT gathered that the two vehicles involved, a red starlet and a 20-ton lorry transporting sand were moving downwards in the same direction. About 10 metres to the Hospital entrance, the trailer was making a u-turn at a petrol filling station. After waiting for a while, once the road was cleared, both drivers tried to overtake the stationed trailer simultaneously.

Given that the starlet’s driver was not fast enough, the lorry knocked it from behind, propelling it a few metres ahead. In a bid to maintain control of her car, the driver finally packed across the road, bringing traffic to a halt. Apart from a wreckage of the driver’s side of the small vehicle, no human loss was recorded. However, the driver was forced to use the passenger door to come out of the vehicle. Immediately alerted the police officers were dispatched to the scene, where after an official report of the incident, both cars were removed and traffic regained fluidity.
