Prime Minister Philemon Yang prescribes sacrifices to complete journey of political renewal.
Pioneer North West Senators were around at the Bamenda Congress Hall on May 18, when Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM supporters joined campaign teams to celebrate victory at the April 14, 2013 senatorial elections. Prime Minister Philemon Yang , an illustrious son of the region was in the chair when speaker after speaker saluted him for turning full circle to instill a cohesive force and one spirit that led the CPDM to break new grounds in the Region.
The Prime Minister said it was a special day in the recent political history of the region with the celebration of 10 Senators who emerged from the April 14 elections. He said that by embracing the CPDM family, the North West had opted for peace and development. Mr Yang challenged party supporters to complete the journey of political renewal by winning the next legislative and municipal elections. The way forward, he prescribed was to consolidate their collective team spirit, sink differences, never embrace witch hunting, preach reconciliation, remain faithful in militancy and build campaigns on truth and hope.
North CPDM Campaign team leader, HRH Angwafor of Mankon hailed all who supported the CPDM course and said extra efforts are necessary to check out the opposition from Mezam, the seat of North West republican institutions. Divisional campaign leaders like Dr Fuh Calistus Gentry, Prof Ghogomu Paul, cheered collective efforts led by the Prime Minister to secure victory and the positive environment put in place by President Biya for democracy to triumph in the Region and Cameroon. Host Mezam I, CPDM Section President, Minister Nji Paul Atanga said it is ripe to celebrate day break in the North West, with the CPDM coming a long way with Senators to show in Cameroon’s pioneer Senate. He said it has been the result of a fierce battle during campaigns and went on to salute fair play displayed by the leading opposition leader, Ni John Fru Ndi who conceded defeat after the April 14 senatorial elections. Minister Nji Paul Atanga also believes that the way forward for more achievements is to bury differences, backstabbing and combat fear. A victory march past on the streets of Bamenda dropped curtains on the event.
