Professional Migration: MINEFOP Draws Up Practical Guide

The Cameroon government is not against professional emigration, but the irregular manner in which people are leaving the county. To check illegal emigration, the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training (MINEFOP) is drawing up a hand book which will help Cameroonians

who wish to travel abroad for professional reasons. The Minister of Employment and Vocational Training, Zacharie Perevet, while opening a workshop to this effect yesterday May 28 in Yaounde said the manual will help solve irregularities in emigration witnessed in the country today.

While speaking in the presence of partners such as Lumiere Du Droit and GIP International de France, Zacharie Perevet said it is important to have a booklet which will permit future emigrants to know the type of emigration to undertake, where they can go, what professional openings exist in the country they intend to go, the international partners that can help them and the principle problems of emigrants in the countries where they find themselves. The Minister said it is a sensitisation tool for future emigrants that will help them travel with a focus rather than adventurous reasons that will later lead them in the desert.

When the document will be validated, MINEFOP boss said young Cameroonians will know what the law says about professional emigration, what laws exist in foreign countries which will enable them to integrate like professionals in the country.
