Sahel Stand Up… Comedy Jamboree!

Comedy lovers have been invited to a moment of unprecedented laughter. The announcement was made during a press conference yesterday, May 28, 2013 at the French Institute in Douala. The two-day comedy show known as ‘Sahel Stand Up,’ aims at presenting Cameroonian comedian, Nana Ardo, the winner of the first ever edition of the “Castel Live Comedy 2012.”

The budding artiste equally grasped the Canal D’Or 2012 award in his artistic domain, which warrants a live performance and encounter with the public. Nana Ardo will be accompanied on stage by three other comedians of international repute, whom, he said, have been a source of inspiration and encouragement in his career. They include Nar6 Kouokam, Isnebo and ‘General’ Saidou Abatcha from France.

Born in the northern part of Cameroon, Nana Ardo will thrill the public with scripts from his 13- year experience as a comedian. Inspired by the works of Jean Michel Kankan of blessed memory, he fine-tuned his skills by enrolling in school comedy clubs, troupes and training centres. He released an audio album in 2004. His comic piece, “Le Justicier,” a satire of the justice system, earned him the Castel Live Comedy trophy last year. He has also participated in theatre and comedy activities both at home and abroad.

Being a series of four live performances, the first two will hold today, May 29, 2013 and tomorrow, Thursday May 30 as from 8 pm at the Yaounde French Institute. Meanwhile, Douala will take over on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday June 2, 2013 for a similar event.
