PM Yang Represents President Paul Biya in CEMAC Summit

http://cameroon-tribune.cmPrime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon Yang is back from the Gabonese capital, Libreville where he represented President Paul Biya in the extraordinary summit of the Heads of Stateof the Central African Economic and Monetary Community, CEMAC.

The summit was convened by the current President of CEMAC, the Gabonese Head of State, Ali Bongo Ondimba. It reportedly took place on the sidelines of the New York Forum Africa. The summit that took place from June 14 to 15, 2013 served as an opportunity for the Heads of State to take stock of progress on many key issues.

African Press Organisation website reported that CEMAC Heads of State agreed to put an end to the obligation to possess visas in order to move in the countries of the CEMAC zone. The measure is reportedly to take effect from January 1, 2014. The leaders, the publication further reported, also decided to create a common political framework to protect trade within the zone. In specific terms, they would have to harmonise conformity policies in medicine in order to fight against forgery and facilitate access by pharmaceutical companies to the regional market.

The Heads of State also reportedly discussed the security situation in the Central African Republic. The precarious security situation prompted ministers of the Monetary Union of Central Africa, who met in April 2013 to propose the temporary relocation of CEMAC Commission headquarters from the capital of the Central African Republic, Bangui.http://cameroon-tribune.cm
