Blaise Compaoré Takes Leave of Summit

The President of Burkina Faso, Blaise Compaoré, took leave of the ongoing Yaounde Heads of State and Government Summit on maritime security and safety in the Gulf of Guinea yesterday evening.

Soon after taking part in day one of the confab, the Burkina Faso leader boarded his plane back to his country, 24 hours before the end of the summit scheduled for this Tuesday at the Yaounde Conference Centre. Received at the airport by Prime Minister, Philemon Yang, in the company of the Minster of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation, Rene Emmanuel Sadi, President Blaise Compaoré had a brief stay at the airport during which he commended Cameroon’s Head of State, Paul Biya, for the initiative to organise the summit.

Speaking to the press, the Burkina Faso President said the Yaounde summit was a rare opportunity for Heads of State and Government to unite against what he termed the disturbing maritime piracy in the region. It was about 5:30 pm that the plane carrying the Burkina Faso Head of State and his delegation took off from the Yaounde-Nsimalen International Airport.
