First Ladies Exchange Pleasantries At Lunch

Cameroon’s First Lady offered a special lunch to spouses attending the summit.

An elegant Mrs Chantal Biya, wearing cream white and pink attire, with a broad smile, yesterday June 24, 2013, received the First Lady of Equatorial Guinea, Constancia Mangue De Obiang as she stepped her feet into the Oriental Pavilion of the Unity Palace for lunch.

It was a special lunch offered by the First Lady of Cameroon in honour of wives of Heads of State and government attending the Economic Community of Central African States, ECCAS, Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, and the Gulf of Guinea Commission summit on maritime safety and security taking place in Yaounde, Cameroon. Warm accolades, handshakes, bouquet of flowers, snapshots and a special menu characterised the atmosphere at the East Wing of the Unity Palace between Mrs Biya and her special guest; Constancia Mangue De Obiang.

After participating at the opening of the First-ever summit on Safety and Security in the Gulf of Guinea, during which both First Ladies attentively listened to security issues around the Gulf of Guinea, there was no better way Cameroon’s First Lady could digest the issues raised at hand other than over an opulent meal in a cosy environment. Joined by the wife of the President of the Senate, Marcie Niat Njifenji, the wife of the Speaker of the National Assembly, Fadimatou Cavayé Yeguie Djibril and the wife of the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Linda Yang; both First Ladies spent over two hours chatting as they ate and sipped something good.

Two hours might have been small for Chantal Biya and Constancia Mangue De Obiang to chat especially given that the First Lady of Equatorial Guinea is a member of the Pan-African Organisation; African Synergy against AIDs and Suffering, of which Mrs Chantal Biya is the Founding President. Constancia Mangue De Obiang is one of the advisers of African Synergy Against AIDs and Suffering.

She and Mrs Biya through their humanitarian activities, work tirelessly each day in their various countries to alleviate the suffering of their peoples particularly that of women and children. During the lunch, both First Ladies certainly discussed their progress made since they both launched the Accelerated Reduction of Maternal Mortality Programme in Africa dubbed CARMMA. The warm accolade and smiles that characterised the entrance of the First Lady of Equatorial Guinea into the Oriental Pavilion accompanied her as she said goodbye to her mate; Mrs Chantal Biya.
