Both clubs emerged winners in the men’s and women’s categories at the end of the 5th interclub meeting in Yaounde.

FAP and Cameroon Sports continue to call the shots in athletics competitions in the country, maintaining their lead on the classification table at the end of the 5th inter club competitions over the weekend in Yaounde.

FAP won the competition in the women’s category, culminating a total of 123 points to conserve their lead on the championship while Cameroon Sports emerged second, 61 points behind the leaders after having recorded 62 points. It was a reversal of fortunes in the men’s category where Cameroon Sports is in the lead and trailed by FAP in the runners-up position. INJS came third in both categories, performances attributed to the fact students are currently writing exams and Cameroon Sporst was able to field more athletes than the other clubs.

The competition was aimed at short-listing athletes for the upcoming national championship, select athletes to represent Cameroon in the Central African games as well as the upcoming world university games and the Francophonie Games. So far, 17 only athletes have attained the minimal record for participation in the World university games and the Francophonie Games to take place in Nice- France in the month of September 2013.

The competition also witnessed the participation of a delegation from Atlanta, United States of America christened “Athletes in Action” who seek to blend the spread of the word of God and the practice of the sports discipline. At the end of the competition, the president of the athletics federation shared a few words with us.
