They have been instructed to respect gender and sociological aspects in drawing up election candidates' lists.

The members of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM Regional Supervision Commissions in charge of overseeing the selection of the party’s candidates for the twin legislative and municipal council elections of September 30, 2013 are on the field. In meetings some of the delegations leaders have already convened, they will meet members of the Divisional and Council Commissions to map out work plan to ensure success.

The commissions start work with specific instructions and deadline the Secretary General of the CPDM Central Committee; Jean Nkuete gave during a preparatory meeting at the party headquarters in Yaounde on July 8, 2013.  Within the commissions, there are also specialised units with coordinators one in charge of selecting candidates for legislative election and the other one to select candidates for municipal council elections. Jean Nkuete said the various commissions will have to submit the lists of candidatures and files to the CPDM Central Committee on July 12, 2013. This will enable the National Nomination Commission to make the final selection and endorse the candidates nomination papers that have to be submitted to Elections Cameroon latest, July 17, 2013 in conformity with the Electoral Code.

Mr Jean Nkuete instructed the party officials in charge of selecting candidates to respect the special proportion for women in relation to the number of seats in each constituency, stating that lists that will not respect the instructions will be rejected. Instead of conducting primaries as in previous municipal council and legislative elections, the CPDM has opted for consensus lists to ensure cohesion and family spirit within the party.
