Labour medals were on July 26, 2013 awarded to some staff of the PM’s Office by the Head of Government.
The court-yard of the Prime Minister’s Office was on Friday July 26, 2013 filled with staff of the institution, family members and well wishers who came to witness the decoration of some 24 staff of the PM’s Office with medals counting for the 2013 year.
The ceremony was solemn, and void of speeches. After shaking hands upon arrival at the ceremonial ground with close collaborators like the Secretary General and Director of Cabinet, the Prime Minister and Head of Government, Philemon Yang went forward to raise staff to different dignitaries of valour.
In all, 24 staff received medals that ranged in a descending order of importance from the Commander of the National Order of Valour, Officer of the National Order of Valour, Knight of the National Order of Valour, Officer of the National Order of Merit, Knight of the National Order of Merit, to the Public Force Medals. Out of the 24 recipients, only the Director of the Public Contracts Regulatory Agency (ARMP), Joseph Ngo was not of the Office of the PM or his auxiliary services reason being that he was already programmed for the ceremony before being appointed at ARMP.
The second phase of the ceremony was reserved for merry making and refreshments. Family members present en masse at the yard were swift in embracing and offering bouquets of flowers to loved ones before taking to the tables for entertainment.
