In spite of recent economic growth, Cameroon's health system continues to face important challenges, in addressing human resource development, insufficient equipment, healthcare infrastructure as well as inequity in access to health services. Acute situations like lack of health facilities exist especially in some rural areas.

However, the country with the support of donors is undergoing transition and many medical schools and medical faculties have been set up while several hospitals have also been established to meet demand. During the graduation ceremony at the Medical Faculty of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Logbessou, Douala, efforts made by the government to meet the health needs of the citizens were underscored, and the new doctors told to be professional while using the limited means resources at their disposal.

Minister Fame Ndongo said medical personnel are highly needed in the country. He believes that they will contribute significantly to boost the country’s human resources; an important challenge currently facing the medical corps, but said they are, however, free to work in the public or private sector. To him, their brilliance and competence will depend greatly on professionalism and their determination to curb corruption and add value to health care.

Minister André Mama Fouda while appreciating the quality studies received urged them to demonstrate moral rectitude at all levels and regularly update their knowledge and skills by participating in various forums and training courses. It is with their performance on the field that will attest to the high-quality training the graduates received during 7 years. The first batch of students trained between 2006 and 2013.
