Cameroon-Japan: Parliamentary Vice-Minister Promises Investments

The visiting Japanese minister had discussions with government officials on August 14.

Bilateral relations between Cameroon and Japan are henceforth expected to be strengthened in the domains of Japanese investors coming to Cameroon and in the area of training of youths for the job market. This follows discussions the visiting Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Toshiko Abe had with government officials on August 14, 2013 in the capital city, Yaounde.

The Japanese government official and Prime Minister Philemon Yang discussed cooperation ties between the two countries during the Star Building audience. Toshiko Abe disclosed to reporters that her visit was a follow up to the Tokyo International Conference on African Development, TICAD V summit that took place this year in Yokohama, Japan.

From the Star Building, the visiting Japanese Vice-Minister and her delegation went to the Ministry of External Relations where she had discussions with the External Relations Minister, Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo. This was followed at 11:00 a.m. by other discussions with the Minister of Communication, Issa Tchiroma Bakary. In every stop over, Toshiko Abe lauded bilateral relations with Cameroon and expressed the determination of the Japanese government to support Cameroon, strengthen friendship ties and work to establish peace in Africa and the world. Communication Minister, Issa Tchiroma Bakary presented Cameroon’s investment potentials to the Japanese official, stating that the country is a haven of peace. He said all conditions were put together to enable Japanese invest in Cameroon. Issa Tchiroma also briefed the Japanese delegation on efforts to attain the digital switch over in broadcasting by June 2015.
