SDF Celebrates Rehabilitation of Council Lists

NEC held a meeting in Bamenda on Friday to strategises towards September 30.

A crucial National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the SDF dropped curtains over the weekend in Bamenda with champagnes popped for the rehabilitation of some six SDF council lists initially rejected by ELECAM. In effect, party chairman, Ni John Fru Ndi took time off the agenda of the session to salute and appreciate the SDF legal team for work well done at the Administrative Bench of the Supreme Court.

Away from that, there were hard  words for absentee NEC members , Senators, MPs and shadow cabinet members during  what Fru Ndi said was a crucial meeting to draw up strategise towards victory at the September 30, 2013 twin elections. It was all about developing campaign messages and slogans and the recruitment and training of polling station agents.  Reports on the distribution of voter’s cards also featured on the agenda. Briefing CT, SDF Communications Secretary, Beatrice Anembom Munju said the session in Fru Ndi’s Ntarinkon residence checked and balanced SDF council and parliamentary lists as they prepare to compete in 118 councils and 63 parliamentary constituencies across the country.  Though NEC celebrated the rehabilitation of some council lists they expressed disappointment that the same Court and the Electoral Code which they argue, has been tailored to keep the SDF in the opposition and the ruling party in power.  Come what may, Beatrice Anembom Munju said the SDF is poised to score 99 per cent victory on September 30 and the way forward stresses justice before, during and after the elections.

It is against this backdrop that the Assistant Communications Secretary, Denis Nkemlemo told CT that Chairman, Fru Ndi’s  party is developing “ a  strong political action to block injustice” and it begins by working with regional  structures to ensure that the  right SDF people belong to  polling stations. Another NEC meeting will size up preparedness before the elections.
