ELECAM Gets Campaign Materials Ready

The printing of ballot and campaign ballot papers underway. Elections Cameroon, ELECAM, the institution in charge of organizing, managing and supervising the September 30, 2013 twin legislative and municipal elections is working tooth

 and nail to ensure that the provisions of the Electoral Code  governing campaigns for the elections is scrupulously respected and that campaign materials are ready. This is justified by the decision of the Director General of Elections, Mohaman Sani Tanimou of August 22, 2013 to determine the maximum size of election campaign posters and terms for the publication of campaign documents.

ELECAM earlier in a release called on the 29 political parties running for the legislative poll to confirm the logos, colours and acronym of their respective parties at the Cameroon News and Publishing Corporation, SOPECAM to smoothen the start of the printing of ballot and campaign ballot papers. At the moment, ELECAM is supervising the printing of ballot and campaign ballot papers at SOPECAM. By Wednesday, August 28, 2013, 28 out of the 29 political parties definitely retained to run for the election after the ruling on petitions relating to candidacy lists by the Supreme Court acting as the Constitutional Council had confirmed the necessary information at SOPECAM. The corporation’s sources indicated hitch-free printing of material.

The National Printing Press on its part, has the mission to print campaign and polling ballot papers of the 32 political parties finally retained to run for the September 30 municipal election. The Director General of Elections in a release on August 27, 2013 invited the accredited representatives or officials of the political parties whose nomination papers for the municipal election were definitely retained to get in touch with the National Printing Press in view of confirming the colour, logo and acronym of their respective parties. The party representatives had up to August 29 to confirm the colour, logo and acronym at the National Printing Press, paving the way for the printing of campaign and polling ballot papers.
