Outgoing MP Donates To Pupils, Students

Hon. Paul Eric Djomgoue offered school material worth over FCFA 8 million to about 900 pupils in Yaounde II.

Some pupils and students of the Yaounde II in Mfoundi Division of the Centre Region were yesterday August 28, 2013, in Yaounde, happy recipients of school material and scholarships. The goodwill gesture came from the outgoing Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Paul Eric Djomgoue, who is also candidate in September 30 twin polls. Hygiene and sanitation kits were also handed to some schools of the locality.

The ceremony was the closure of the second edition of holiday classes that gathered 910 pupils and students from some four bilingual schools of the locality. It was chaired by the Divisional Officer for Mfoundi, Jean Claude Tsila.

The students received training from some 45 teachers who also received packages from the goodwill ambassador as encouragement for their relentless efforts to cater for the learners. The stress-free school reopening gesture, according to the Hon. Djomgoue who is also Secretary General of the CPDM Parliamentary Group, was his contribution encourage and support pupils, students and parents of the locality as the 2013/2014 academic year opens on September 2, 2013.

The outgoing Mayor of the Yaounde II Council, candidate in upcoming elections, Luc Assamba, joined voices to laud the initiative he described as exemplary, saying it wass worth emulating so as to improve the academic performance of pupils and students of the municipality. The gesture was a show of national solidarity, social partnership and above all, commitment to the amelioration of the standards of living of inhabitants, he said.

All speakers affirmed that the economic emergence of Cameroon as craved for by the Head of State could only be attained if Cameroonians of goodwill joined hands but above all, if education was given pride of place. The popular saying was that development passes through education, and it was high time to invest more in learners.
