Roger Nkodo Dang, The Continental Politician!

The Deputy Speaker of the Pan-African Parliament is seeking a third term in the Parliament.

At 50, Roger Nkodo Dang has already achieved much in politics. According to ‘Le Nyong et Mfoumou en Campagne,’ the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM, election newspaper for the 2013 parliamentary and local council polls in the Nyong and Mfoumou Division of the Centre Region, he has rendered so much services to the party that when put in writing, they cover over 500 pages!

The CPDM candidate for Nyong and Mfoumou North Constituency, who is also Deputy Speaker of the Pan-African Parliament, is seeking re-election for a third term. He is confident of his political future, “There is no campaigning in Nyong and Mfoumou. We are just cautioning people to guard against errors during voting especially as two elections will hold on the same day.” Basing his confidence on history, Roger Nkodo Dang says Nyong and Mfoumou has always voted CPDM and will do it again.

“My election as Deputy Speaker of the Pan-African Parliament was a diplomatic victory for President Paul Biya who proposed me,” he recalls. He says he will try to create synergy between African countries and Cameroon’s Parliament. He however warns that the task will not be easy: “Working for the continental Parliament is delicate as it oversees 54 States! I must therefore do everything in order not to disappoint the Head of State,” the former official in the last legislative period points out.

As to what new he can offer after 10 years in Parliament, Roger Nkodo Dang says a Member of Parliament never lacks what to do. “I am not coming back to Parliament just for the sake of doing so. An MP serves the whole country. I will therefore continue to work for the general interest of Cameroonians,” he adds. Recent happenings on the continent, he says, show that countries that do not have stable political institutions tend to be prone to violence. Cameroonians, he warns, must do everything to prevent this from happening to their nation.
