Interview: “Bamenda Central Working To Give CPDM Victory”

Nji Paul Atanga- CPDM Campaign team leader for Bamenda Central.

What message did the CPDM C.C Secretary General take to Mezam I and North West militants on September 21, 2013?

The visit of the Secretary General of the CPDM Central committee, Jean Kuete was most welcome in Mezam I and the North West region. He came with encouraging and reassuring words as we campaign towards the September 30 twin elections. The visit was salutary and he instructed us to focus on door-to-door campaigns.

He inspired us to convince even opponents to vote for the ruling CPDM, because development emerges from the Head of State. It is clear that if we want roads, hospitals and other development structures, it is good to vote massively for the ruling party because it is the government that develops the nation. I also took time off during the visit to tell the Secretary General to travel back in confidence because we would do better than in 2007 when the CPDM won nine parliamentary seats and 18 councils. We have targeted to do better and we have mobilized to be overwhelming in victory.

Could you also size up the level of campaigns in Bamenda Central?

We are on the field and after launching campaigns in respective areas last week, we are now into door-to- door and face to face campaigns. Our task and challenge is known to all. Bamenda Central is the strongest battle ground in the North West region and we are bent on seeing that things should not be the same after September 30. There is harmony in our campaign team and we enjoy the support of the Secretary of State, Doh Jerome and our militants.

We are conscious that the Head of State and our party chairman, needs a comfortable majority to achieve his greater accomplishments programme. Votes from Bamenda Central are precious because it is a strong battle ground and one vote here is equivalent to about 50 votes elsewhere. We are on the field to make things happen so that party chairman. Paul Biya can achieve his ambitious projects for the nation.
