Meme SDO Frowns At Misuse Of State Property

Sanctions await delegates who rough-handle State property and service vehicles.

The Senior Divisional Officer for Meme, David Koulbout Aman, has called on all the Divisional Delegates and service heads in the Division to protect the various State property and facilities placed at their disposal to facilitate their work. The SDO frowned at the misuse of some State property such as service vehicles, office telephones and the poor hygiene situation prevailing in some of the Delegations.

David Koulbout Aman was speaking to Divisional Delegates recently at the Kumba City Council Hall during the Second Quarter Administrative Coordination Meeting with heads of services in the Division. Addressing the various heads of services and the forces of Law and Order, the SDO noted that most of the services are found wanting in the discharge of their duties while others take delight in rough-handling State property placed at their disposal.

He cited the use of State vehicles for private purposes and the over-consumption of office telephone airtime, among others. The SDO warned service heads to desist from such acts or else any State vehicle found out of the Division without a mission order will be impounded; while those caught in the division without any authorisation shall also be impounded.

To delegates and service heads who use office phones without accountability, the Meme SDO assured that he shall also carry out control of various services to check these excesses. Another disturbing issue noted by the SDO was the failure of service heads to maintain good hygiene and sanitation in and around their offices as well as the acts of indiscipline and disrespect of hierarchy by some divisional delegates. He urged the service heads to keep clean working environments and attend to the public without any discrimination. Before any service head travels out of the Division, he or she must obtain permission from the administration, the SDO warned.

Briefing them about the upcoming reunification anniversary slated for Buea, the administrator highlighted the role to be played by some Delegations such as Youth Affairs, Social Affairs, Transport and others towards the success of the event. Concerning the upcoming twin elections, the Meme Boss reminded the service heads of the role they have to play to ensure free and fair elections, before, during and after the elections, urging them to stay neutral. To the forces of Law and Order, their mission was very clear: “maintain tight security and protection of the lives and property of the citizens.”
