Universities Begin 2013-2014 Academic Year

Cameroon Tribune proposes a special focus on university reopening as from tomorrow, Tuesday, November 5, 2013.

The 2013-2014 academic year has already kicked off in the eight State universities around the country. From every indication, the take-off has so far been hitch-free thanks to major innovations undertaken by more clairvoyant rectors and vice-chancellors under the watchful supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education.

Decentralised payment of tuition through money transfer agencies, online registration, online courses, job-opportunity billboards, professional courses and boosting of infrastructure amongst other laudable initiatives, were undertaken. However, thorny issues are still pending in most universities as different management strategise on implementing appropriate solutions.

In a Special Series that starts tomorrow, Tuesday, November 5, 2013, Cameroon Tribune takes a deep insight into issues surrounding the reopening of State universities. Reports in campuses aim not only to measure the ambiance of the reopening but also take stock of major innovations set in motion. Challenges begging for urgent solutions are also looked into with opinions gathered from students, lecturers and even support staff while rectors, vice-chancellors or other competent senior management officials give clarifications through interviews.

In a roundup, the reopening of some private universities is also treated before a final assessment of challenges is made alongside an interview of the Minister of Higher Education to conclude the Series.
