The man who was travelling from Brazil to Nigeria via Douala had 9 litres of liquid cocaine.

The men of the anti-trafficking unit of the Special Police Station of the Douala International Airport have arrested a Nigerian transporting nine litres of liquid cocaine in his luggage. The cocaine was contained in six bottles of 1.5 litres each.

Peter Eze Oforma (26) was taken into custody on Monday, November 12, 2013, as he was travelling from Sao Paulo in Brazil to Lagos in Nigeria passing through Addis Abeba in Ethiopia with a stop over at the Douala International Airport. It was during his stop over in Douala on board an Ethiopian Airlines flight at 1:30 pm that Peter Eze Oforma was caught with bottles of the drug.

Following strict security measures prescribed by the hierarchy as concerns the fight against international drug trafficking and during the regular Police checks, Senior Police Constable, Evelyn Njouangang, suspected the itinerary of the Nigerian for transporting drugs.  Moreover, all the six fake wine bottles had no stamp duty tax apposed on them which reinforced the convictions of the Police officers. An expert in the administration of drug antidotes Assistant Superintendent of Police Ubald Momaso was immediately called in. The tests he performed on Oforma himself proved negative but all his six purported wine bottles reacted positively for the presence of cocaine.

The Interim Commissioner of the Douala International Airport, Senior Superintendent of Police, Zachari Yaou Alhadji, immediately ordered for the arrest and interrogation of the Nigerian. Upon exploitation, Oforma disclosed that the six bottles were given to him by a certain Godson Chibuzor in Sao Paulo to be handed over to his brother Ike in Douala upon arrival.

Following this other mode of operation adopted by drug traffickers and uncovered by Police operatives, the Littoral Regional Delegate for National Security, Police Commissioner Raymond Essogo has reiterated the determination of the Police to completely eradicate drug trafficking, abuse, possession and consumption in the region. The Interim Commissioner of the special Police Station of the Douala International Airport, Zachari Yaou, declared that henceforth the airport is a no-go-zone for drug traffickers.

In less than one month, airport police have taken into custody three drug traffickers all from a neighbouring country with varied methods of transporting cocaine.
