Cameroon Showcases Investment Potentials in Asia

A business delegation recently participated in the Commonwealth Business Forum in Sri Lanka.

The Investment Promotion Agency Cameroon (IPA) took part in the Commonwealth Business Forum (CBF) which held in Colombo – Sri Lanka – under the theme “Partnership for Wealth Creation and Social Development’’.

Cameroon’s delegation to the event comprised some officials of the Ministry of Trade, Ministry of External Relations, and the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Technological Developments, as well as some private sector businessmen and senior officials of the Investment Promotion Agency Cameroon (IPA), such as Dr. Diane Acha Morfaw (Board Chair), Boma Donatus (Deputy General Manager), amongst other IPA support staff.

Following presentations by the delegation, IPA’s Deputy General Manager who harped essentially on “Doing Business in Cameroon” made known to the world the unique selling points that make Cameroon an attractive destination for investors.

This fact was strongly supported by documented information on Cameroon’s stand, which was prominent throughout the event. On exhibition and display were useful investment data by the Investment Promotion Agency Cameroon which also showcased Cameroon’s rich investment potentials to the over 1,500 participants and potential investors from 56 countries across the world. Investors who were interested in doing business in the country had the opportunity to have firsthand information from the delegation during various exchanges. Well above 70 business people from the sectors of infrastructure, Energy, Mining and Agriculture attended an IPA luncheon event chaired by Mohan, Chairman of the Commonwealth Business Council, flanked by guest speakers from the Standard Chartered Bank board.

Furthermore, a series of roundtable discussions on the future of the Commonwealth as well as IPA’s challenges, innovations and recommendations were held. Before the event rounded off, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between IPA, represented by Acha Morfaw, and the China Machinery Engineering Corporation, represented by its Board Chair Sun Bai. The agreement paves the way for future investment in the sectors of infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and mining.
