CDC, UB Upgrade Research Partnership

The second partnership agreement is aimed at propelling research between both institutions.

Reinforced research partnership between the University of Buea (UB) and the Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC), will henceforth witness an upward swing.

After the first research partnership signed 26 October 2007, a renewed exercise took place in Limbe recently with both parties voicing optimism to work in symbiosis to propel research.
What the CDC offers was highlighted in a brief ceremony by the General Manager Franklin Ngoni Njie who harped on internships and research avenues that his corporation continues to offer to UB students since 2007.

He noted that research is imperative especially in the palm oil and rubber sectors where optimum production, unfortunately, is bedeviled by pests and climate change. Reason why, he said, there must be continuous research and innovation in a corporation where UB has the duty and obligation to provide well trained and qualified manpower.  Moreover, the CDC provides a training platform conducive to research that will be relevant to the professional lives of UB students.

Describing the CDC as a ''natural partner'', the Vice Chancellor of the University of Buea, Nalova Lyonga, commended the cross-fertilisation of research ideas between UB and the CDC. She said the CDC does not only sit on the Board of UB, but offers practical fields for UB students to practice what they learn theoretically. ''Research has to grow and notch higher than we expect,'' she stressed while calling on both institutions to intensify research in areas like waste management.
