Cameroon, Egypt Relations Reviewed

The Egyptian Ambassador to Cameroon was received at the Ministry of External Relations on Monday, December 23, 2013.

The Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Cameroon, Sherif Salah Eldin Elleithy yesterday December 23, 2013 handed a friendship letter to the Minister Delegate at the Ministry of External Relations in charge of Relations with the Commonwealth, Joseph Dion Ngute from the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs for onward transmission to the Minister of External Relations, Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo. Eldin Elleithy held discussions with Dion Ngute with focus on reviewing cooperation between Egypt and Cameroon.

Boosting existing relations and increasing trade volume between both countries was primary during talks, Eldin Elleithy told the press at the end of the brief discussions. “Egypt and Cameroon have long ties since the early 60s and we have so far organised two joint committee forums and the last one held here in Yaounde in 2010 with a follow-up session held in Cairo Egypt last October,” the Egyptian diplomat said, explaining that this was proof of the growing cooperation between both countries.

He revealed that Cairo also hosted a political forum between both countries last October. “The framework of relations between the two countries is getting stronger,” Eldin Elleithy noted.

“I was bearer of a friendly and brotherly message and this was just to reaffirm our wish to enhance the relationship between the two countries,” he concluded.
