The information was made public by the President of the federation at a press conference on January 29, 2014.
The year 2014 is going to be a very busy one for the Cameroon judo federation as it sin expected to take part in three major international competitions. First will be the Yaounde International judo tournament in March with over twenty countries expected to attend, to be followed by the African Championship to take place in Ndjamena-Chad and thirdly, the world championship in Moscow-Russia.
The information was made public by the President of the Cameroon Judo federation, Alain Kingue in a press conference yesterday at the premises of the federation in Yaounde intended to give a balance sheet of the year past and make projections for 2014. Among the major achievements for 2013, Alain Kingue mentioned Cameroon’s participation at the 5th edition of the Ndjamena international tournament where they emerged first from among nine participating countries, winning a total of 22 medals, 8 gold, 7 silver and 7 bronze. He also mentioned the acquisition of new equipment for the federation.
As concerns the projections for 2014, Alain Kingue disclosed that the International Judo Federation has promised to construct a judo playhouse in Cameroon and also to offer a bus to help in the vulgarization effort of the federation. He said the federation is planning to renovate and equipment judo infrastructures in certain regions such as South west, North West, North and East. The federation will also organize training seminars for referees, coaches and other actors in judo. He also disclosed that the federation will soon be organizing a competition in Lolodorf as part of a programme to take judo to the hinterlands
On the suspension of the first vice president of the federation, the president said, it was the decision of the general assembly and not that of the president. Concerning allegations that he practices discrimination and favoritism in the selection of athletes to take part in international competition, Alain Kingue said athletes were selected on the basis of performance and that Adamu Ousmnou was left out of the Maputo Games because he had no passport.
