A U.S. official and EU Ambassadors on January 31, 2014, had discussions with Minister Delegate, Adoum Gargoum.

The Minister Delegate at the Ministry of External Relations in charge of Relations with the Islamic World, Adoum Gargoum in separate audiences on January 31, 2014 had discussions with the Director of the Office of Central African Affairs within the U.S. Department of State, Robin Meyer and some ambassadors of the European Union countries to Cameroon, led by the Head of the European Union Delegation to Cameroon, Françoise Collet.

Talking to reporters after the in-camera discussions, the U.S official said her government commended the mediation role of the Cameroon government in the crisis in the Central African Republic as well as the services rendered by Cameroonian soldiers within the framework of the international MISCA in order to restore peace and security in the conflict-thorn country.

She said the U.S. government will continue  to partner to restore security in CAR, stating that they were in the process of providing 100 million Dollars  to support MISCA and the French soldiers on the ground. Robin Meyer added that the U.S. government has also committed about 45 million Dollars in humanitarian assistance for the affected population in CAR and handling the situation of refugees escaping to other countries.

The European Union Delegation Head to Cameroon, Françoise Collet disclosed to reporters that the EU delegation came to exchange views with Cameroonian authorities on the crisis in CAR. Considering the recent decision of the United Nations Security Council on the possibility of military intervention in the crisis by the EU, she said, it was important that they exchange on their aims, objectives and dimension of intervention.

Discussions with the Cameroonian authorities, she justified, were because of the appreciative crucial role the country was playing in the crisis at the sub-regional, African Union and UN levels.
