The Nation Mourns Yong Francis

Minister René Emmanuel Sadi represented the Head of State at the burial in Kom.

The nation building efforts of late Yong Francis, an illustrious son of Boyo, North West region has been acknowledged and saluted by the nation.

The event was his funeral, organized in Bamenda and later on in his native Elemighong-Kom village where the personal Representative of the Head of State, Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, René Emmanuel Sadi posthumously decorated late Yong Francis on his last journey to eternity as the Commander of the Cameroon Order of Merit.

A wreath from the Presidential couple, a message of comfort and encouragements to the family, summed up the Minister’s action during the different stages of the funeral in Bamenda and Elemighong on February 1, 2014. Funeral masses, academic honours, traditional rites and heavy gun firing were major highlights of the celebration of the passing into the world beyond of Bobe Yong Francis, the one who grew to be respected by virtually all, as the true son of the nation whom God used to impact on the lives of many with massive investment projects for posterity.

He died in the U.S.A. on December 30, 2013, a few days after his elite one, football squad, Yong Sports Academy (YOSA) won the 2013 National Football Challenge Cup, playing against Canon of Yaounde.  Bobe Yong Francis also took credit with the establishment of first rate educational facilities, among which include, National Polytechnic, Bamenda, PCHS Mankon, CHS Bambui, KCHS Anyajua and Yong Sports Academy.

Away from that, there was none greater that Yong Francis in the promotion of communication with Abakwa FM radio and CN TV to show in Bamenda. Fair play was his trade mark as the pioneer President of the Regional Olympic and Sports Committee, former President of FECAFOOT for the  North West, former international referee and former Regional President of the Red cross.

He was a pace setter and role model with investments that inspire hope.  It was against this backdrop that the Government Delegate to the Bamenda City council, Ndumu Nji Vincent saluted late Yong Francis for enhancing the infrastructural, educational and social development of the city.

Among the lot who filed put to pay tributes to late Yong Francis were North West Governor, Adolf  Lele Lafrique,   SDF National Chairman, Ni John Fru Ndi, a delegation from the National Olympic and Sports committee, FECAFOOT, LINAFOOT, Ministries of Higher Education, Secondary Education and Sports and Physical Education.
