A two-day colloquium on border security issues in Africa ends today, April 16, 2014 in Yaounde.
The International War College of Cameroon situated in Simbock, Yaounde is currently working on proposed solutions to the teething border security problems that have been rocking the African continent. Their proposals will be the outcome of a colloquium that started in the college yesterday, April 15, 2014 on the theme, “Border security issues in Africa.”
The Commander of the War College, Major General Ngambou Esaie who represented the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo’o at the opening of the colloquium said border security was a very preoccupying issue in Africa. The colloquium, he said was one of the traditional activities of every batch of the college that usually reflects on burning issues and gives remedial contributions.
The present colloquium on border security in Africa concerns the ninth batch of students of the institution. Proposals from the colloquium will be compiled and put at the disposal of the public, leaders of African States and international Community for exploitation.
Themes discussed during the colloquium deal with practical solutions. Talking to reporters, one of the interns in the War College, Major Nche Nsoh said the institution is a laboratory that experiments happenings in different parts of the world and proposes solutions. He disclosed that he will give a talk in the course of the colloquium today that will focus on intra-State, inter-State and international solutions to border security issues. Cameroon, he said was at peace but is facing border security challenges caused by insecurity in some neighbouring countries with spill over effects into the country.
