The anniversary week is intended to make the radio station better known by the public.

Radio Sport Info (Rsi), a Douala-based radio station belonging to the Media Sport Group is this week celebrating its first anniversary. It was on 15 April, 2013, that the local radio station went operational in the city of Douala. Based in Bali, Rsi is the first of its genre in Cameroon and Central Africa with programmes entirely sports and music. Broadcast range covers the city of Douala and it so far runs a total of 11 programmes.

Activities for the anniversary started Monday, 14 April 2014, at the Afrique Hotel at the Madagascar neighbourhood with a news conference. Martin Camus Mimb, Rsi General Manager, underscored the major activities including live broadcasts from the Afrique Hotel and Marché Nkolouloun and a walk across part of the city as well as three football encounters at the Omnisports Stadium at Bepanda on Saturday, 19 April.

Mimb’s motivation was that of a burning passion for radio. “I experienced the worst frustration of my life in CRTV. But I thank CRTV because it was due to them that I received the experience and motivation. When you work in pain, you work well. When you work in comfort you work badly,” he disclosed, noting that Rsi is an editorial radio station but now it has to also be a commercial radio station to ensure sustainability. When Rsi went operational, the first programme to be aired was “Le Matin de Martin” at 4 am.
