PCC Christians Enjoined To Have Hope

Rev. Fonki Forba Samuel made the call during Easter church service on April 20, 2014.

Christians in Cameroon joined their peers in the world to celebrate Easter Sunday; the day Christians believe Jesus Christ rose from the dead. Easter Sunday also marked the end of the forty-day period of lent, hence prayers and church services held nationwide in various denominations.

At the Presbyterian Church (PCC) Bastos Congregation in Yaounde, Christians thronged the church building to celebrate the risen Christ. As early as 9:00 a.m., the different choir groups were busy rehearsing ahead of the service to give thanks to God for the resurrection of Christ.

In his sermon, the parish pastor of PCC Bastos Congregation, Rev. Fonki Forba Samuel said Easter is the fulfilment of Passover. Drawing from the book of Galatians in the Holy Bible, he said Christ died on the cross to pay for the sins of mankind.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son to die for our sake. If we were serving a dead God then Christianity will have no meaning,” he said. He call Christians to not to lose hope because they are serving a God that is alive and He is with us. He assured Christians that Christ the leader is alive, active and dynamic in our lives. He enjoined the Christians to go and tell the world that Christ is risen
